Re: Animal Protection Act "consultation" meeting in Whitehorse, May 8/08.

I was surprised to see that not one representative of the Yukon media made it out to the meeting. I was REALLY SURPRISED that there was no media representation by (the very well-staffed) CBC Yukon. I did hear a little news piece on CBC radio about one of the reporters going out to the Marsh Lake APA "consultation" on May 1. Wouldn't it make sense that somebody would also show up at the higher profile one in WHITEHORSE? I mean it would take less petro.

But it's pretty obvious where the animal-related priorities of CBC lie when I see the name of the 'A New Day' morning show host (Sandy Colemen) included among the volunteer names on a full-page Yukon Quest 'thank you' ad recently in the Whitehorse Star.

Was this media personality being thanked for actual volunteer work for the Quest, or just her annual misuse of the public airwaves to express her (and CBC's) favourable opinions about this race that has been known to hurt and kill dogs for 25 years? Did I detect an audible increase in the volume of CBC media hype for the Quest in 2008? Will I have to stock up on "ear plugs" for next year's Quest coverage?

...Just asking!
