And then there's confirmed incidences of students hunting the rabbits for food
In Response To: UVic rabbits making news again ()

While the University claims to have taken a passive approach to the rabbit population ("natural" predation, off-leash dogs, roadkills etc.) there have been other techniques used.

There have been rat poison boxes placed in various places around campus, and I have watched baby rabbits come and go from the boxes as if they are little burrows. The adult rabbits are too large to enter, but baby rabbits and mice are just as likely to fall victim to the rat poison as the rats themselves are.

There have also been a number of confirmed incidences of students hunting the rabbits for food.

I wish people would stop releasing their unwanted pet rabbits on the campus, as it is not a safe or happy place for them. I took several drop-offs home when I lived next to UVic, and all were in poor shape when I picked them up-- hungry, dehydrated, and injured either by predators or by the local rabbits who don't take kindly to intruders in their already crowded territory.
