I think I was only running away from knowing their horrific fate and suffering during and after the disaster

This article truly made my day.
Ever since the earthquake hit China, following the cyclone in Myanmar, there’s been the area or the subject I intentionally tried to overlook or avoid to question about and that was as to what happened to all the animals there?
Actually though, when you look at the pictures of disastrous scenes the media provides for us, it’s a sort of relief that there’s no sign of them, none on the streets, none in the shelters, just nowhere to be seen.
So that was a convenience for me. I could almost convince myself that there hadn’t been many pets in the first place in those parts of the country, so shouldn’t worry too much, or rather pray for the human victims, just as everybody else does.
Admittedly, however, it was always in the back of my mind. How can I dismiss the fact that there’re dogs and cats everywhere in China, even though in many occasions they’re eaten and skinned for fur in astronomical numbers?
I think I was only running away from knowing their horrific fate and suffering during and after the disaster.
So now, here’s a big ray of hope. One day, when and if I get a chance to visit China, I’d like to go straight to this lady’s place. I’d like to hug her and meet the animals and give as much help as I can.
Thank you for letting us know of such a great mission going on in China. Hope it will prevail with a pace as equal as the nation’s over-all progress.
