Coalition Anti-Vivisection: stop sale of monkeys to research labs

STOP THE NEPALESE MONKEY BUSINESS
INTERNATIONAL WEEK OF ACTION 14 – 21 JULY

The final preparations are almost in place for the international week of action against Nepal's proposed export of rhesus monkeys to American vivisection laboratories. Our demands are simple, an immediate ban on all wildlife exports, (including monkeys), the release and rehabilitation of the monkeys who have already been captured and an end to the vivisection currently occurring in Nepal which is being carried out on wild-caught primates by unscrupulous American 'researchers'.

The Nepalese government are in the process of re-drafting the law regarding the situation with the monkeys and now is the time where the global anti-vivisection movement must act to put a stop to this vile industry before it starts! There can be no compromises on this issue, the difference between success and failure is the difference between life and death, so make sure you take whatever action you can to put an end to Nepal's participation in the vile monkey trade!

During the week of action there are already actions planned in numerous countries, although it's not too late to plan something in your area or you can join in with one of the pre-arranged protests! If you don't live close to an embassy or consulate then you could always do an information table and collect signatures on letters to the send to the Nepalese government, (available on request).

The addresses for the Nepalese consulates in Canada are:

Nepalese consulate, International House 30 Dallas Road, Victoria BC, V8V 0A2
Tel : +1 (250) 381-7788
Fax : +1 (250) 381-1042
Email Address : cmconsidine@considinelaw.com

Nepalese consulate, Suite 707, 120 Eglinton Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario, M4P 1E2
Tel : 416-975-0910
Fax : 416-322-2928
Email Address : kunjar@kunjarsharma.com

If we are to stop primate experiments it's essential that we stop countries from supplying the monkeys to experiment on, so if you could arrange/support a protest at either of their Canadian consulates then that would really help this vital campaign!

There will also be a cyber-protest aimed at Nepal, with a new action every day during the week of action, and your participation will be vital to it's success. Please spare 20 minutes each day to participate in the on-line action, and please don't rely on other people to do it because they might be relying on you to do it....and of course the monkeys sitting in the Nepalese breeding centres are relying on every single one of us to do it!!!

Finally, we need people to call Nepal, (as will be explained in the action alerts during the week of action), so please start looking into how you can make your voice heard by the people who will decide the monkeys fate! You can either find a discount call service on-line, (by simply searching something like 'Cheap calls to Nepal' or similar), buy an international phone card, (where you ring a number and insert the pin number on the card), or use Skype.

With a little bit of effort on our parts during this vital week of action we can and will end Nepal's involvement in the international primate trafficking industry!!!
