21 story wind turbine (slice and dice machine) at grouse mountain *LINK*

So I see the District of North Van has approved the new slice and dice machine at Grouse Mountain even though it is a proven fact that the lungs of bats explode in the proximity of these turbines which is why they are found intact at the base of these killing machines. Raptors and many other birds also lose their lives flying into these whirling blades. Think about it, what a horrible way to die! The vote was close though, 4 to 3 and the ones opposed did so with compassion because of the threat to wildlife. I emailed the council about my thoughts about this project and the huge toll on our bird and bat populations (already under duress). Bat reproduction is such that they can never recover from the continous loss of life due to turbines. Bats are major pollinators of crops, insect eaters and absolutely fascinating little critters and without them, alternatives are pesticides. We really are doing a magnificent job of systematically decimating our wildlife aren't we? If you think this is wrong, feel free to drop a line to Mayor Richard Walton and Council, the District of North Vancouver, at dnvcouncil@dnv.org.
