Gov't finally forced to admit hakapiks inhumane but allows skull-crushing

In keeping with the Federal Government of Canada and it's 'traditional' way of doing things - as it is traditional to hunt and slaughter defenseless seals in Canada no matter what means are used.

Bringing in these new rules of non-use of hakipicks and clubs and resorting to rifles and more crushing blows to the skull doesn't make it any more right and least of all any more humane and therefore the tradition of slaughtering seals will still go on.

The DFO are now admitting that the previous use of hakipicks and clubs was indeed inhumane, something they claimed never was, which makes them bigger hypocrites than they ever were. Of course it won't be easy for the DFO to convince the EU. Every seal that is killed must be tagged and video taped and if there is one seal that is inhumanely killed then the ban is on. This will cost the taxpayers of Canada about 2 million dollars extra just to keep an eye on what the slaughterers do. This process will also slow them down so at least the big quotas won't be met and by the looks of how the weather is going in the east, there won't be enough ice to retrieve the bodies and that means they won't get an accurate count, which means they can't be assured that a bullet didn't actually kill the poor baby seal, which means it was wounded and left to bleed to death in an agonizing and painfull way.

Tradition just took a hammering and let's hope the the DFO and the Federal government of Canada do likewise. They are fools.
