Rescuing crabs who would like to live too

I know that many will find this kinda' silly, but several times a year I go into our local thrifty's store, purchase a live crab, take it down to a beach and release him. 9 times out of 10, this creature will turn around at the water's edge, look at me, raise a claw, then turn and scuttle into the water. Sounds crazy, doesn't it, but I swear it has happened. Maybe I am reading just a little too much into it, but I like to think I made a difference to someone's life. You can probably add sea and finned creations to the quote below.

"We have enslaved the rest of animal creation and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were to formulate a religion, they would depict the Devil in human form." -- William Ralph Inge
