Explosive proposal: Blow up bunnies

The University of Victoria could forget about giving rabbits vasectomies and
instead blast the pesky bunnies in their burrows using the Rodenator Pro.

The concussion of the blast caused by the Rodenator Pro kills burrowing
animals instantly, says the manufacturer. Sounds like something from the
movie Caddyshack, but the Rodenator Pro has been used to kill squirrels in
Spokane, Wash., for the last couple of years, said Barry Russell, director
of Spokane Parks and Recreation.

It consists of a two-metre rod with a gas line attached. Numerous videos on
YouTube illustrate the Rodenator Pro's explosive power.

It works by injecting oxygen and propane down the tunnel system, igniting it
and producing a massive blast that kills the animal instantly, said Ed
Meyer, owner of Idaho-based Meyer Industries, which makes the device.
