No-kill sheltering is a commitment to take care of all animals through the ends of their lives. Ruth, a RAPS volunteer, makes this possible for senior dogs.

About 10 times a year, a very elderly dog will be surrendered or found stray by RAPS. These are often our most precious, kind-hearted animals who were abandoned in the latest stage of their lives. Many are over 14 years old, and are unlikely to be adopted. Since the shelter environment is too stressful for long term residence by an elderly dog, RAPS long-time volunteer, Ruth, cares for them.
