The terrible thing about hypocrisy

Comment on YouTube page http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9Dg7dfhZTA: "I ask all of you out there. What is the best IPM method for dealing with this invasive species? Are we going to live trap and relocate every rabbit on Van Isle? Can this even be done? are we going to spay and neuter all of them? What about the american bullfrog. What is the compassionate answer to that animal? Would people be up in arms if someone slaughtered 30 bullfrogs? What is the difference between bullfrogs and rabbits? Is it ok to kill the bullfrog or do we need to relocate them too?"

I have to agree. We keep making distinctions between animals whose deaths outrage us. Again... it comes back to the question Which animals' deaths outrage you and which animals' deaths are okay because you eat the animals? It's hypocritical to be 0utraged by the eating of cats and dogs and horses and rabbits. The terrible thing about hypocrisy is that it so successfully allows us to hide from ourselves.
