Private secretive agency must have gov't oversight

The system failed these sled dogs and it is the system which needs to be fixed. BC needs an independent government body to oversee the protection of animals from cruelty.

Instead we have a private organization, the BCSPCA, with the exclusive right but not the obligation to enforce the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Animal groups throughout the Province have been pleading with our government for years to have this ongoing problem corrected to no avail. Instead the BCSPCA was given even more power.

The BCSPCA investigates itself and now they are on the task force to investigate this slaughter. It just shows us our government is still not taking this cruelty seriously.
