Animal Advocates Watchdog

Canadian Federation of Humane Societies statement about Whistler sled dogs *LINK*

Did not know that BC SPCA was a member of the CFHS!

Most enlightening to see the 'animals in entertainment page' has no reference to 'sled dogs.' Both my wife and I had emailed the CFHS years ago as to why the CFHS ignored these exploited animals. Neither of us received any reply. In my opinion, the CFHS has been very politically correct/afraid of criticism from the rabid sled dog lobbyists who are a bunch of bloody cowards (they may not write letters to the editor in defense of their 'industry,' for example, but will call or send nasty emails threatening to cancel their newspaper subscriptions, blah blah blah). The Whistler Question took a lot of such abuse when it covered the story about the sled dog tour complaint from a California lady in Feb./March 2009, over the poor physical condition and demeanour of the dogs.

I am also aware that a previous Yukon board member of the CFHS was pro-dog mushing/racing. And then you have the Humane Society Yukon which has been totally silent about Yukon Quest and other sled dog abuse. I know personally that HSY usually has board members who do not have a problem with dog mushing/racing, and are even fans of the 'sport.'
