$300 and no home check for a severely anti-social dog
In Response To: Does the BCSPCA have a soul?? ()

I got my dog, a corgi cross from the Vancouver SPCA a couple of years ago and they didn't do an interview with us, a homecheck or anything. We had to fill out a questionnaire and pay $300, that was it. This dog showed anxious behaviours in his kennel (constantly biting the air around his head) but when we took him for a walk he seemed normal. We didn't try him with other dogs because his information didn't indicate he had any problems, just that he might be reluctant to go up to strange dogs. In the years since, he's shown further anxious behaviours (obsessive paw licking, etc.) that we eventually learned to control by more mental stimulation and exercise. He has no idea how to greet strange dogs and immediately goes into attack mode unless controlled properly. So far we've been vigilant and stopped him from hurting other dogs, but he's ripped out other dogs' fur on more than one occasion. Luckily, he only weighs 17 lbs so most people don't see him as dangerous. He gets along fine with our other dog now, but it was rough in the beginning. Compared to dogs like Tyson and Titan, our dog sounds more dangerous to other dogs (he also used to bite your hand if you tried to take things from him, but has improved), yet the SPCA didn't take the time to assess him since he looks harmless and cute and was only 10 months old when we got him. He was extremely undersocialized, like these other dogs, so how did they miss that? Yet they condemn these other poor dogs to death with no just cause. Disgusting and cruel, I say!

Why did the SPCA kill Tyson? *LINK* *PIC*
I ask to be present at his death *LINK* *PIC*
I type whilst tears run down my face
Does the BCSPCA have a soul??
They kill with impunity and this is the terrible truth. There should be a higher body above the BCSPCA that could look at why this dog was killed
Unfortunately there aren't enough rescue organizations to save all of the animals that should never have gone to the SPCA *LINK*
