Death By Despair

It is really ironic that the small rescue groups with shoestring budgets(like AAS, FOTA, PAF, OKAWF, BHR, GVAC, etc) take in strays and neglected/abused animals, and yet the animals in their care do not EVER suffer and die of "Death By Despair".

The offical term for this is Shelter Induced Psychosis, and it occurs when cats are kept for weeks and months in tiny cages crouched next to litter pans, and dogs rarely get let out of their cells.

In my opinion, when an animal is forced into an environment where these unnatural and terrifying conditions exist, it is a given that they will begin to show signs of psychoses, and this makes adoption unlikely and ethanasia inevitable.
