Once again I am dismayed at the BC SPCA’s lack of concern

SPCA donated animal ads a hit: Vancouver Courier: Sept 10/03

Once again I am dismayed at the BC SPCA’s lack of concern in regards to the problem of pet overpopulation in this Province.

If the BC SPCA were truly concerned about overcrowding at its “shelters” across the province, they would have taken this excellent opportunity to target the overwhelming problem of overpopulation instead of trying to re-sell more animals through these fluffy adoption advertisements.

Dogs, cats and other animals are an enormous responsibility and the adoption of one should never be taken lightly. The recurring fluffy theme of the ads that pets are “all fun and games” makes one forget that animals can live up to twenty years and the responsibility of animal guardianship goes far beyond the first few years.

By showing these ludicrous ads and holding an adoption challenge between “shelters”, the BC SPCA is doing absolutely nothing to uphold the value of every animal’s life, which should be held in the highest regard.

Yours truly,
