AAS's whole goal is to prevent animal suffering in BC. We realized soon after beginning AAS that we could only make a tiny difference by hands-on rescue of a few lucky animals and that we would die with the cruelty and the killing unstopped if we did not expose the nasty truth about the "animal welfare business". So we risked our personal safety and the deep pockets of the SPCA and its big lawyers and built the AAS web site to get the truth out.

But the path of reform was littered with false starts, smoke and mirrors, self-promotion, and so many disastrous policy decisions that it cannot be called successful - not yet.

The SPCA has been hurt badly financially because of its self-serving and stupidity. AAS has said repeatedly that it wants an honest and financially healthy BC SPCA so that it can afford the programs that will allow it to prevent cruelty. A broke SPCA will not get AAS to its goal.

But we have no choice but to keep hounding the SPCA as long as it clings to corrupting policies and as long as its reform is in the wrong hands.

AAS cannot stop its exposure of the BC SPCA until we can see that it is honest and principled. When it is, we will use our energy and will to support the SPCA, not to criticize it.
