Who is steering this ship of fools? Who decides who gets sued? The Board of Directors? The ones who steered the good ship SPCA onto the financial rocks?

Some of the present directors had their hands on the tiller through the balmy days of CEO Al Hickey, when the SPCA's dog disposal empire was expanding and cruelty prevention was a dirty word. They were still there when CEO Doug Brimacombe chose style over substance; p.r. spin over sound management; the SPCA corporate body over the bodies of the animals it had in its "care"; and to use fat cat lawyers like Owen Bird and Lawson Lundell to attack its critics.

Some of those directors are still there and they are still using these tactics. And they are permitting the latest CEO, the third in four years, to use bully boy tactics on its critics, and worse - on innocent real animal rescuers such as Forgotten Felines.

The SPCA can expect more storms as long as confrontation and dissembling are guiding it. There can be no plain sailing for the SPCA until it gets its moral compass straight.
