Animal Advocates Watchdog

Our letter to Action for Animals in Distress
In Response To: Post removed ()

From the Action For Animals in Distress web site:

The goal of Action For Animals In Distress Society is twofold.

To rescue and provide immediate medical care.
To spay, neuter and vaccinate.
To rehabilitate both psychologically and physically.
To find loving homes for those who can be adopted.
Animals unsuitable for adoption will live out their lives in peace and with dignity in the homes of Action Members.
To diligently work towards acquiring funding for the purpose of building a no-kill sanctuary for abandoned and abused animals.
To operate a sanctuary where all animals in our care will be safe and protected.

We asked Action for Animals in Distress...

We don't see any reference to advocacy, but without it nothing will change, and you and so your organization will never be out of work. Will your group be advocating for laws, reporting on the SPCA, reporting on pound contractors, reporting puppy and kitten kills and cruelty, etc?

Will your sanctuary have limited surrender? And if it does, will you become an 'unwanted animals home' when you are full and close your doors to more abandoned and unrehomable animals? Or if you will not have a limited surrender policy, what will you do when you are full of animals that no one wants, or you get dogs that are too dangerous and cats that are too feral to rehome?

Will your society raise funds for a community spay/neuter program?

Those are just a few questions that come to mind. Although we know that plans such as yours can attract a lot of well-meaning but ill-informed donators, we can't help but think that more "sanctuaries" that do nothing to prevent the cruelty that they profess to abhor, but keep shuffling more animals, faster, are not what animals need. But perhaps you do plan to advocates for animals. We'd be interested in knowing.
