There are lots of "bad" dogs and lots of "bad" people!

I firmly believe that breeding regulations need to be in place YESTERDAY. Part of the problem is ANYONE is allowed to breed a dog. Personally I feel only a person who has studied the breed, knows the standard, genetics and cares to breed for the best of the breed should have anything to do with breeding.

The biggest problem with Pits, is people are NOT breeding to a standard, they are intentionally breeding them for more aggression, which is a serious problem. The illegal activity that goes with pits is a danger not only to the dogs, to society. Anyone can get a pit and breed it..

A properly bred dog of any breed should never have aggression towards humans, I can't think of any breed that "should".

I also feel that part of the problem is most of society doesn't take dog ownership responsibly, so many simply keep them as "guard dogs" and don't care about socializing the dog or properly training it. Many people think it's "cool" to own a pit and doesn't take owning one seriously.

This is where the government, humane societies and the SPCA need to kick in. They need to educate the public, get serious laws in place and stop allowing any moron with a pit (or 'dangerous' breed) to breed.
