Calle was supposed to go where Tina is to the elephant sanctuary in Tennessee, but she came down with TB and they could not move her there. Now she is dead, her elephant friend Tinkerbelle is alone and the SF Zoo has not ruled out getting another asian elephant to keep her company. If you watch the video at this link of Tinkerbell trying to push Calle down to the ground so she can die, and then read the official zoo press release about this event, you won't believe the differences. The zoo is trying to blame the entire incident on animal rights activists who were gathered near the elephant enclosure and video taping things. Carol Buckley of the Elephant Sanctuary gives her own account of this video, and she clearly states that Tinkerbell was not being aggressive. After watching this, I agree.
