Congratulations all the volunteers on the committee, especially Gail Moerkerken and Brigitta MacMillan, who had seen behind the scenes at the SPCA and told the truth fearlesly to the District of Maple Ridge staff.

The best option for animal welfare is the municipally-owned and operated pound; but if contracting is chosen, then this is the way to do it: make the contractor do real animal welfare or risk having the contract yanked. In Maple Ridge the days of the SPCA operating a hell-hole for its own benefit are over. The enormous struggle and the threats of legal ruin by the SPCA, have been worth it.
