From an ex-Prince George Community Advisory Committee member....

Prince George SPCA manager Jeannine Woodhouse, told me she was told by head office not to push for charges because the SPCA would receive $1200 and the dog was surrendered immediately. She told me if charges were laid, the court system would end up with the money, SPCA wouldn't see any of it and the dog would not be given to the SPCA as quickly. She also stated in the newspaper article that the shooter was very remorseful but when I spoke to her, she told me he wasn't remorseful at all.

AAS comment: So much for Daniell telling the media that the decision was made by the RCMP, not the SPCA. And to take the money and not ask for charges is like saying if a pedophile pays for surgery on his victim, no charges should be laid.

I don't believe any of what she says - I haven't for a long time. That's why I had to leave the Prince George SPCA Community Advisory Committee -I was the fundraising coordinator and every time I suggested an event, it was always the same answer "too much time would have to be put into it". All they want is people to run down to the shelter with their chequebook in hand and write a cheque. They have no interest in working for the money. I was furious when after the City Challenge (my idea) our local shelter spent money on a costume of a dog to be used at events! At any given time they have many real dogs who would LOVE to be involved and show our community they are ready to be adopted!! So now they have this stupid costume - Super Dog - which is sitting at the shelter and being used instead of real dogs. That money could have been used for spay/neuter and to help with the overpopulation problem!
