Early in the morning, Spud's frantic family first called the after hours emergency number for the Chilliwack/Abbotsford SPCA looking for help, and was denied it . They were told NOT to bring the dog to Abbotsford because she would be put down. Joanne Halligan, the manager of both the Chilliwack and Abbotsford SPCAs, has denied this allegation, although she did not speak to the family herself.
