Honeydew’S HAPPY ENDING

2001

Honeydew is the last survivor of a litter of kittens born of a feral mother cat.

Darla Baker has been feeding a lot of stray and feral cats all on her own for several years not knowing that there was any help out there for people like her. Darla found homes for two of the kittens and some others were killed by predators. Someone told Darla to phone AAS, and here she is at our vet.

Honeydew got her shots, deflead and dewormed and now she is ready to go to a home.

AAS contacted Lana Simon of Pacific Animal Foundation for a trap to catch the mother cat in so that she can be spayed, vaccinated and tattooed.

Here is Lana showing Darla how to use the tender trap

Marleen read Honeydew's story on Animal Advocates' website and asked PAF if we could arrange a visit with Honeydew to meet her. I met with Marleen on Tuesday afternoon and she was touched by Honeydew's story. After talking with her husband, they wanted to offer a home to Honeydew. Marleen spent yesterday getting all the needed supplies for a young kitten and preparing a safe, cozy room to receive little Honeydew.

So, Honeydew was adopted this afternoon to the lovely young West Vancouver family with a small daughter and she will have a loving, responsible home. Honeydew is one of the lucky ones.
