I Got Up Closer

I got up closer I saw that a pup was chained to a box and surrounded by mud and poop

I have been a dog lover all my life and thought most dogs in this country were well treated so I was really shocked and upset when I saw this little guy on a chain not far from where I live. I couldn't believe my eyes at first, but when I got up closer I saw that a pup was chained to a box and surrounded by mud and poop, there wasn't even a water bowl, he was drinking out a filthy puddle that had his own poop in it. I went home and got food and water for him and a dry blanket and then I phoned the SPCA who told me that as long as I was giving him food and water then he had food and water, and the box was a shelter. They basically hung up on me when I started to argue with them. There wasn't anything for me to do but go get the pup so I did, and I'll do it again, anytime.

There has been such a flood of appeals for help this year that we may not be able to reply very quickly or at all to more appeals. AAS is now so well-known for its experience in all animal welfare and rescue matters that we are asked for advice and help from all over BC, Canada, the U.S. and the world.  For years I have answered each and every appeal with detailed advice that I have learned from 20 years of rescue and advocacy. Our high standards are well-known to the public, that is why we are so often asked for help and advice.

We are currently working on so many projects that I am sorry to have to tell you that we may not be able to help you with your rescue and/or your personal bills.
