Giving made good things happen for Princess and Blue

Rescue Report from our rescue colleague: I received a call from a couple on the reserve near Chilliwack where I have been rescuing dogs. They have 9 dogs, none of which are fixed. They are all tied to posts with no more than 4-5 feet long cords.

Princess's collar had begun to grow into her neck, and would soon have needed surgery to remove... if it could be removed. Her face is scarred, probably from having her muzzle wired shut.

Blue scrounges for food at the end of her tether.

Princess and Blue are recovering nicely after their spays. Princess had pyometra and the vet told me that she would have died if it wasn't for us getting her spayed, so we literally saved her life! Thank you for playing a part in that AAS.

It's clear from this happy face, that Princess feels much better after getting her collar peeled off her neck and the pyometra being treated.

Here is a breakdown of the dogs still needing help:

-Two female pups approximately 4 months old.
-Three female shepherd cross dogs, two tied to the same tree, one on her own.
-One female black Lab,tied to a post.
-One male black Lab/pit bull cross 14 years old, tied to a post.
-Two male black Lab/retriever crosses who the couple took from a neighbour whose intention was to shoot them, now tied to their front porch.  I am hoping in time, they will allow me to place more of the dogs in homes.
They all need to be fixed as they regularly free themselves from their tethers and breed.

There are also other dogs that run wild and these poor girls have no way to get away as they are tied up.

The scars on Princess' nose are typically caused by wrapping wire around the muzzle to prevent a lonely frightened dog from crying and barking.

If you want to really help these happy, easy dogs, please offer to foster one of them.  Contact AAS at animaladvocates@telus.net to say you are going make a difference for these dogs by donating or taking one into your home.
