Animal Advocates Society of BC is very pleased to announce that we are partnering with Squamish Neighbourhood Animal Partnership and Protection Society (S.N.A.P.P.S.) on a Squamish Reserves Spay & Neuter / Health Campaign. (We also partnered with them on a One-Day Wellness Clinic.)

S.N.A.P.P.S. is directing the campaign on seven Squamish reserves and Animal Advocates Society is making it possible by paying the bills.

The offer includes the following to make the dogs healthy: spay or neuter, vaccinations, deworming, defleaing, nails clipped, ears cleaned, tattoo and any injuries or diseases. AAS would never consider paying only for a spay or neuter. In the SPCA's program of matching funds to groups, it will only pay for the bare minimum cost of sterilization - $60 for cats (we don't know what it allows per dog). Meaning that the dog could possibly be returned to the owner with parasites, injuries, and infections if the participating organization can't afford to treat those conditions.

As of May 14, 2014, Animal Advocates has paid more than $5,700.00 in vet bills for the 55 dogs that have benefitted from the Spay & Neuter / Health Campaign.

S.N.A.P.P.S. tells us: "This 'blitz' is proving successful!!! That's undoubtedly because there are no financial barriers and because Animal Advocates is paying to make sure that this Spay & Neuter / Health Campaign covers spay/neuter plus all aspects of the dogs' health. A few owners said they were planning on breeding until they saw the 'time-limited offer', which prompted them to act now."
