We are currently helping out a senior lady right in Kamloops. Her daughter had contacted me about her 'feral situation'. She apparently has been feeding ferals for the past couple years on her porch. I went over there, and I knew I had the correct address when I saw the cats scattering every which way as I pulled into the driveway. She has set up dog houses, kennels and even scratches posts under her porch for the feral's comforts. All of her flower pots contain blankets, instead of dirt and flowers....they are cat beds! She has been feeding them for a couple of years, but has yet to gain any of their trust. These are true feral cats, and she has watched their numbers go up over the years. She is very dedicated in their day to day care,and even has names for these cats... but hasn't any funds to spay/neuter. We are doing our best to help her out. Attached are pictures of the first 2 cats caught. Both males...the black/white boy is estimated at just under a year old. He had a severe ear mites infestation, but got his ears flushed and treated. The lady calls him 'Moustache'. The tabby was estimated around 6 years old, based on his teeth condition and cheek size! The lady calls him, 'Rascal' but when she found out his approx. age, she said there was no way that was really 'Rascal'. Rascal was born last year....so we may have a few more ferals around than we originally thought. Isn't that always the case?! Regardless of who he was, this was the angriest feral ever! I think I almost got whiplash carrying the trap with him in it, he was jerking around so much!
