Fur belongs on animals -- not in your closet
Letter
Monday, December 10, 2007
First of all, let me apologize to Joyce Derksen for chuckling while reading about her altercation with one miffed hawk. I'm sure you were very frightened and you could have been more seriously injured. Thankfully, you weren't.
I do believe there was another moral to the story you missed other than: "Don't wear your fur hat when walking on the Ganatchio trail."
There's a little thing in the universe called karma and perhaps the real moral here was that you shouldn't be wearing a dead animal on your head. I'm surprised that someone who takes the time to feed birds would not recognize the crime of wearing fur.
Fur belongs to the animals, not in our closets. For the sake of all animals and animal lovers, retire your hat. There are plenty of beautiful synthetic materials that can keep you cosy and not anger the wildlife in the process.
