You think your heart is as full as it can get

You think your heart is as full as it can get and then something happens to make you feel like you are going to burst. This happened to me Christmas Eve Day.

I was at work and a lady came in who cares for quite a few different rescues. She placed her hand on my arm and asked me if I knew anyone who could take on a 9 year old purebred golden retriever. This dog needed out of a bad situation as soon as possible. We were busy at work but I picked up the phone and called my neighbour who has a very soft spot for retrievers. I helped them find a 2 year old in October. My neighbour asked me if she should take this dog and I replied I couldn't answer that question for her. Anyway, I put my client and her together on the phone. Turns out was the client's neighbour's dog.

I came home in the dark on Christmas Eve. My neighbour had been out on her nightly run. She called to me and had two retrievers with her not one. She followed her heart and took in this 9 year old. Spent an hour brushing her and took her dogs for a walk. She told me she was a wonderful natured dog. Her family had split, she was running away so was being chained up. The family were willing to give her up.

Now she is living inside, has a companion, and the most wonderful family.

As the Grinch who Stole Christmas I believe my heart grew in size. What a warm feeling. I've since talked to my neighbours and they want to give her the best to help her get the most out of her life and the many more years she has ahead.

The generosity of so many this year has certainly made my Christmas. I want to give a big thank you to Judy of AAS for her financial support of the Courtenay Airpark Cats that I've got involved with in the last couple of months. I never asked Judy for any help but once she heard she has been a godsend. For this I thank her.
