Lavone - thanks for the "heads-up" about this show. The Fifth Estate should be doing a feature exposing the sled dog racing industry in Canada, especially a cruel race like the Yukon Quest. But I doubt that they would be interested in the subject as our local CBC station (and CBC as a corporation) is a big media supporter of this race, and the dog mushing industry in general.
It is not helpful that the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies does not have any mention of sled dog racing (we are living in Canada after all) in their "Animals in Entertainment" section. Both my wife and I have served on the board at our local humane society. Several years ago, we separately contacted the CFHS about their policy on dog mushing/racing and never received any response from them.
