NIAGARA FALLS - Marineland is down to three killer whales following the death of Nootka, one of the star attractions at the Ontario tourist facility for more than 25 years.

Marineland spokeswoman Ann Marie Rondinelli said Tuesday that Nootka died Jan. 8 and Marineland is awaiting the results of a necropsy on the marine mammal.

Nootka had been at Marineland -- a popular tourist destination -- since 1979 after being captured near Iceland.

Rondinelli did not know when results of the post-mortem would be available.

She added that routine blood work done on Nootka had shown that something "wasn't quite right."
