Ignorance isn't bliss to the abused

Whether because we wish to remain innocent or ignorant, we humans continuously turn a blind eye to issues we would rather not hear or see.
How gullible, indeed, are we when accepting scenes portrayed on film and TV as reality.
We must begin to question each presentation and never assume that the safety and well-being of helpless animals are truely in the minds of the film maker.
I remember when the first '101 Dalmations' movie became such a hit with families...and then it was uncovered that hundreds of the sweet puppies had been destroyed during the filming. How could intelligent folks not have realized that:
a) Films take many months to shoot
b) Hundreds of puppies would not look the same age from beginning to end of the entire shooting
c) To keep the illusion of this sameness, new puppies would have to be bred and old ones disposed of - which is exactly what was happening behind the scenes.
d) a few of us boycotting the first film would never prevent a sequel or two from being filmed as so many people still chose to ignore the unpleasant facts or gave in to their children's pressure, thus allowing Disney Studios to make millions on each movie.

All we can do is to continue to uncover the truths that we don't want to see and hope that one day activists will outnumber the profit mongers.

Very sad show to watch *LINK*
To watch a caged baby chimp clutch a red ball and rock impassively with dead-eyed anguish is to feel a blinding shame only humans can know
