Apparently, the Yukon tourism industry will collapse without the labours of sled dogs to pull tourists around, and for the suffering of Yukon Quest dogs to provide tourists with entertainment pleasure.
Much public money from Yukon Government and the City of Whitehorse goes into promoting the Yukon Quest race and sled dog tourism (a growth industry).
