To think we could have learned all of these lessons from a little kitty and a crow

When I see examples of what other creatures in the animal kingdom can achieve, I am ashamed to be called a human.
Understandably, cats usually see birds as prey; but given the right circumstances, they can also accept each other in a completely different context.
Obviously, the crow met the cat as a kitten - a little being in need, and took a protective role. The kitten, meanwhile, was too young to perceive the crow as anything but a care-giver.
They have remained steadfast in their friendship.
This behaviour could be a lesson for many humans about our prejudices.
Too often humans perceive people who are not of their own race or culture as 'them' and decide to treat them as outsiders and thus our enemies. There is nothing in our society that forces us to recognize other humans as life-threatening to us, as in the animal kingdom, yet we continue to treat those who appear different from our own concept of 'us' as foe.
Imagine a world without boundaries, both physical and emotional, where all beings are simply that: beings. No one would judge another in any category; all humans would protect and nurture every other being, both animal and people; we would leave no one in the cold to suffer hunger and pain; all adversarial behaviours would cease - quite a beautiful picture.
And to think we could have learned all of these lessons from a little kitty and a crow.
