PAF's report on feral cats featured in leading U.S. cat rescue organization

Pacific Animal Foundation (PAF) gets a mention in the latest "Alley Cat Action" Newsletter, Winter 2008 edition. Our efforts to educate our North Vancouver City Council regarding feral cats and the wonderful, humane program we practice called "Trap/Neuter/Return" is mentioned on page 1. Our presentation to Council in September 2007 is found on our website at www.pacificanimal.org

The Alley Cat Allies organization, based in Washington, DC., is the foremost national authority on feral cats in the United States. Its wonderful educational materials provide useful and truthful information about feral cats to both communities and animal control agencies. Alley Cats' mission is advocating non-lethal methods to humanely reduce outdoor cat populations and have Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) recognized as the accepted standard for managing feral cat populations. See www.alleycat.org for more feral cat information.

Word is spreading and communities all over the country are learning about the practice of TNR. With the emphasis that began in the 1990's on saving our planet and becoming eco-friendly with the species sharing our habitat, the public is starting to demand new solutions to deal with overpopulation that doesn't involve killing healthy but unadoptable feral cats. Many volunteer animal rescue groups in British Columbia also practice TNR and are part of this "forward-thinking" movement.
