Are those veterinary tests really necessary?

KNBC recently made a segment on veterinary medicine. Healthy dogs were sent to a number of veterinarians in California. Many unnecessary procedures were recommended.

It's a real cautionary tale for consumers. One just has to make sure that only necessary work is done. A lawyer tried to distinguish between gouging and being thorough. I note that the California Veterinary Association had nothing to say except that the cheapest treatment was not always the best and that vets have lots of discretion.
