The days are numbered for animal protection agencies making seizures, based on alleged extreme suffering, and splashed all over the media, then killing the animals after the media has moved on.

Even though animal welfarists objected loudly for many years, the practice of killing all or some of the seized animals continued until just recently in BC. Livestock, seized on the grounds of suffering, were sold through auction houses, even horses who may have been slaughtered for meat.

Now much is being made of rehabilitating some seized animals. Killing the victims isn't being accepted by many animal-lovers any more.

The new path has been taken by real animal welfare/protection agencies such as Best Friends Sanctuary in Utah, which undertook the rehabilitation of many of Michael Vick's seized Pit Bulls. PeTA and HSUS, which advised killing the dogs, made tactical errors which they will pay for. Watch for them to change their tunes on killing the victims even though they will have to dance madly around years of past policies.
