Disappointed is not a strong enough word. I am heartbroken! However, we won't give up.

Here's my letter to my MP

I am so disappointed that you voted to support Bill S-203. Every animal protection group in the country, as well as the vast majority of Canadians wanted the Criminal Code updated to strengthen the Animal Cruelty law.

The recently passed legislation does not significantly alter existing criminal law in regards to animal cruelty. I wanted new legislation that would help to save animal lives. We did not get that.

What began in December 1999 has not ended. This eight year process leaves Canadians frustrated: our goal was not achieved. An opportunity was missed, but most of us will persevere and continue to campaign for legislation that will make a real difference for animal welfare in this country.
