Why did no one help this poor beaten pit bull in Surrey?

Problem is people who beat dogs, and lack of laws to deal with them

The Editor,

Re: "Attack emphasizes need for pit bull ban," the Now letters, May 9.

It frustrates me, when you call the police to tell them that someone is beating a dog senseless, and they can't do anything about it. When I've made such calls, I am told to contact the SPCA, who also are unable to do anything quickly, due to laws forbidding them until it is too late at times.

The dog I observed being beaten by its owner was a pitbull, which I had observed growing up. It was a sweet dog, until this owner beat her up pretty much every night, until she would crawl and pee at the same time when he called, then he would punch her several times in the ribs while she screamed.

So if these owners were dealt with quickly by police when called, these pit bulls wouldn't get a life of beatings every day, and innocent people would not be then attacked, and then people wouldn't have such a great fear of pit bulls. Any animal or person can be made vicious. Deal with the owners - they should be punished.
