SPCA takes cruelty very seriously

I would appreciate the opportunity to clarify a recent story about the horrific killing of five rabbits in Marina Park.

I did not use the term "prank" to describe this violent incident.

The BC SPCA takes every case of animal cruelty extremely seriously and our special constables work tirelessly to rescue thousands of animals from abuse and neglected animals each year. Violence against animals is a crime, not a prank, and the SPCA will not tolerate any actions which cause suffering to animals in our community.

Manager,

Comox Valley & District SPCA Branch

Editor's Note: The word 'prank' was used by another person quoted in the story and was in no way attributed to Ms. DeBruyne. Unfortunately, some people didn't read it that way.
