Well if this is the reason for conservation, No I will never understand hunters. Humans are a greedy bunch with their "luxury homes" and we can't forget the golf courses. You are right: Lannan Forest on Vancouver Island will be gone soon for more "luxury homes". Once gone, it can never be brought back. Hunting for food, utilizing the whole animal, not allowing it to suffer isn't something that gets my hackles up. How many animals suffer I guess depends on the hunter and what method. Haven't heard great things about bow hunting. Trophy hunting, sport hunting, canned hunting, poaching for body parts, etc. does get my hackles up. I'm not attracted to dead animal heads on a wall and generally do look the other way but when it's in the newspaper I open I see it. Glad to hear there's more to the newpaper article than hunting and heads on the wall.
