A man alleged to have dragged his dog behind his car has been charged with three counts of animal abuse.
The Crown issued a warrant for Bobby Elliott, a resident of the Nicola Valley, on July 2.

The three charges include a) killing or injuring an animal, b) causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and c) owner failing to provide necessaries for an animal.

The investigation was done by Judanna Caros, who runs Angel's Animal Rescue, and the information was sworn by an animal protection officer with the Kamloops SPCA.

Elliott allegedly caused serious injury to the dog on June 17 by tying her to his car and driving three kilometres along a dirt road.

The dog, a two-year old golden lab named April Rain, has been in the care of Angel's Animal Rescue in Merritt since the incident.

She is recovering well, said Caros.
The dog had severe lacerations across her body, as well as worn foot pads and toenails.

"He needs to know that what he did was wrong," said Caros of the charges against Elliott. "Maybe this will clarify that for him."
A court date has not yet been set.
