AAS has documented approximately five dogs in recent years at this site. They each disappear after a few months or a year and are replaced. They may very well be being bought at the City Pound or an SPCA. An AAS member watched outside the Vancouver SPCA and saw a purchaser lead a large dog out, drive home, and tie the dog in the backyard, on the same rope the SPCA gave with the dog. Only repeated phone calls to the SPCA and threats of phoning the press finally forced it to go retrieve the dog, but it may very well only have resold the dog to another abuser. We do not believe the SPCA spin it implies that it conscientiously does home checks.
