1.1 Private Boarding

The Acting CEO presented an information report on Private Boarding at BC SPCA branches.

There was discussion about the requirement for a policy to address this practice, including liability, cost effectiveness, and whether private boarding is congruent with maintaining charitable status, and also to ensure that kennels are not empty when other shelters have a surplus of adoptable animals.

1.2 Private Boarding

The CEO advised that the General Manager of Operations is working on producing a new Operations Manual which will include private boarding. It was reported that Branch Managers will be assisting with drafting the private boarding policy and it will be dealt with this year. It was suggested that CACs should also be involved in this matter.
