It appears that "freedom of speech" like all other rights has become sole possession of the politicians and lawyers. These same ones, who have money and clout, are simply using their wealth and power to keep a thumb on organizations such as AAS, because they think they can with impunity.
One of the basic and fundamental laws or rules if you will of a democratic society, is the right to freedom of speech, not just for one, but for us all. Without facts and proof to back up what one says, well then that is libellous. With all that has been said and written, not just by the AAS or the people who write in, or the media, that has shown all the things that the SPCA hasn't done to prevent the suffering of animals, only goes to prove that with all these writings it can't all be lies, especially when it is seen first hand.
It is beyond my comprehension that the SPCA would even contemplate doing this to the AAS. I'm sure all that money paid to their lawyers could be better spent on helping the animals. If we have to worry each time we open our mouths, or put something down in writing, criticizing a group or a person, with fear of lawyers breathing down our necks, then that is a sad day for juctice and a democracy.
Sincerely
Tim Fisher
