Tho I hav'nt seen the show you speak of, perhaps it is human arrogance that causes unnecessary interferance in what should be a natural normal process. One only has to look at the absurdly high cesarean rates of this country to see that some educated and well intentioned professionals are perhaps too zealous and not trusting in Mother Natures ability to give birth to her young. Human mothers are at times put at addional risk for birth complications by unnecessary medical interference...ask any midwife or mother whos had a traditional hospital birth, and then had one attended by midwives, which experiance was more rewarding. It makes sense that some humans would feel the need to interfere with animal birthing ... do we not treat them as lesser creatures than ourselves for the most part, thus some feel the need to control and take credit for delivering and rescuing the babies from their mothers. There is a time and place for medical intervention, but in reality the occasion would be far lower than demonstrated...with so much technology advancement we have perhaps forgotten the ability and strength and knowledge of Mother Nature to give birth to her own young. Animals, humans included have been designed to give birth and have been doing so since the begining of time...so why not save the heroics and interference for the few and necessary medical emergecies...and let the mothers have the honour of doing what is a very natural process... giving birth, not having it taken from them.
