Asking the BCSPCA to recreate itself is a vital and reasonable request *LINK* *PIC*

I would only add a few words to your introduction re: Talk the talk and walk the walk ". Those words are " all the time". This meaning that the BCSPCA needs to find its' way and stay on its' chosen course with consistency, predictability, integrity, transparency and honesty.

I cannot envision how that is possible, given the current circumstances. The BCSPCA, we know from the PIJAC (Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council) web site is openly affiliated with this organization. PIJAC functions according to the material presented through the link to its Code of Practice (is that different from Code of Ehtics?) to ensure that the Pet Industry not only maintains its current level of activity and success, but flourishes. As an affiliate of PIJAC, the BCSPCA must show its support, assist in the achievement of goals, follow the Code of Practice and carry out activites which support the mandate of PIJAC.

At the same time, the BCSPCA(British Columbia Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) has a mandate of its own and must conduct itself in line with its Mission Statement, Code of Ethics, Goals and Objectives.

Since PIJAC engages in activities without regard for the welfare of animals, how can the BCSPCA support that organization and also claim to exist to prevent cruelty to animals in any form? My opinion is that it cannot.

Through secrecy, carefully chosen print and spoken words and an amazing juggling act without the watchful eye of educated and informed critics, the BCSPCA could in theory "fool all of the people some of the time". However, those conditions are not the reality which surrounds the BCSPCA today. The vastness and power of the Internet expands the eyes and ears of critics to previously unthinkable numbers. Half truths and lies, mixed message statements and strong protests of the validity of facts and issues raised by critics serves only to confuse those people in each community who have assisted the BCSPCA by volunteering, working with the animals housed within the walls of the building or donating money. These people have a right to know what the agency they support is doing to improve the quality of life of animals and to address animal welfare issues in a way which meets our expectation of the BCSPCA by virtue of the name.

If the BCSPCA is truly wanting to regain the trust and respect of the people in the communities it serves, I suggest that any affiliation with PIJAC ends now. In fact, in view of the Code of Practice of PIJAC, the BCSPCA, according to its' Mission Statement, is called upon to oppose many of the practices listed. When the BCSPCA knows clearly which side of the fence it stands on, many difficulties will be resolved and the smooth operation on a daily basis will fall into place. Standing with one foot on opposite sides of the fence is absolutely self destructive. No one should or can be blamed for destroying the BCSPCA as someone has suggested, other than the organization itself. The BCSPCA has made its' bed as the saying goes and has laid in that bed long enough. It's time to stand up now, for the animal victims and for the people of British Columbia who care about those helpless victims and have been carrying more than their share of the burden in doing so.

"Don't just get angry, take action" can be wise words of advice to the BCSPCA as well as to critics, in order for the Society to make things right with so many people and animals it has wronged. Destruction of the BCSPCA is not on the agenda. Asking the BCSPCA to recreate itself is a vital and reasonable request. Based on their stated 5 Freedoms with the addition of 5 core values-consistency, predictability, integrity, transparency and honesty, the result, one aspect advertised below, is a winning combination for animals and people alike.
