CEO Craig Daniell's rule has created this added smear of the SPCA's already bad name. He has put hard-nosed people and hard-nosed policies into place that ought to make the BC SPCA board of directors squirm in shame.

Yet they continue to support him and this kind of brutal bullying. This kind of thing is going on all over BC now: People who need help have their animals seized and often killed. They are charged thousands of dollars to get their animals back. They are vilified in the media. They are dragged through an uncomprehending court system that cannot believe that the SPCA is anything but group of gentlemanly animal protectors, and they are ruined financially and their lives destroyed. In the words of a Queen's Counsel lawyer, the SPCA are thugs and bullies. The story of Lucy is only one of hundreds of proofs.

This is not animal welfare, nor human welfare. It is animal abuse and human abuse.
