Lies, Exaggerations and Half Truths
In Response To: The SPCA can't just be honest ()

Lies, Exaggerations, Half Truths – is this what the wonderful, caring people who fund the SPCA through their donations deserve?

The misuse of these funds greatly reduces the ability of the SPCA to fulfill its mandate to alleviate pain and suffering to animals.

Instead, it enhances the lives of their own over-paid management, the Lawyers it employs to launch law suits and defend against the abuse of their power, and to fund Vets who bill their time out at $231.00 Hr. – I have the bill to prove that one!

So, what is the solution to this problem?

The first step would be to have a completely transparent SPCA.
One that would not be able to hide behind the FOI Act.
An SPCA that had actual rules instead of "guidelines" for its operation. Too many times they have hidden behind the fact that these are only guidelines and that they are open to interpretation by a poorly trained staff.

Also needed is an oversight body or ombudsman to oversee this $20 million a year operation.
Very much needed is a method for people to deal with the SPCA that does not include the high cost of Lawyers and court cases. Many people affected by the SPCA have very little extra money to fight for their animals and loose them because of this.

Perhaps the most important change needed is the change of attitude. Rather than an organization with growth and personal gain as its main concern, we should go back to the old days when being a care giver to the helpless meant something.

Thank you Judy Stone and your wonderful staff for providing a means of changing this situation.
